Analysis of 2 film title sequences
Raging Bull-
Raging Bull starts of with an ident as it is contractual so the audience knows that it is made by MGM company. It also includes credits about who produced the movie, who directed it and who is the main actor as well as the title of the movie.
As the movie opening begins it instantly shows a boxing ring so the audience knows its a sport action movie about boxing. The music was very tranquil as it made me feel comfortable as its gently dove tailed me into the movie. I felt that even though the music is calming there will be dark parts in the movie as the background implies a dark ending. However it could also be because it was made in 1964.
At the end it shows the audience about the location and year that the movie is set which answers the question of why the movie is in black and white.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo-
This movie starts of with very fast tempo music with reveals its genre of a possible action/mystery movie.
It also shows an ident as we now know that it is created by Columbia pictures as it is part of the contract for the production company to be shown. This title sequence uses moving images and uses editing to the beat as the image changes with the drum beat sound.
It shows multiple scenes of the camera following a silvery liquid adding a sense of mystery as the audience doesn't know what that liquid is. The liquid could also be a metaphor use to potray a mysterious journey.
I felt a sense fear as the animation was very ominous and dark and the animation of the fire connotes evil which also implies its mysterious genre
