RESEARCH BP7 Title Credits

Titles used in title sequences

There is a recurring order in the which we see the title credits. This list isn't accurate for all movies as each movie is different however this is the overall pattern we see across he board for all movies.

Order of the Credits

  1. Ident (Studio Names)
  2. Production Company
  3. Possessory Credits ( Usually the director)
  4. Starring Main actors
  5. Other Credits ( Music, Designer, Producer)
  6. Movie Name
  7. Base on a true story/book
  8. Written By
  9. Directed by
Length, Font size and style
The length of the credits usually differ from person to person. If it is the title of the movie the length of the credits would usually be across the screen, in big, bold writing with an extra large font size which would usually be around 18-24 depending on the length of the titles names. The title of the movie would usually be on the screen for around about 5 to 10 seconds as it is one of the most important credits in any movie. You cannot start a movie without first having a title and building up from there. People such as the music producer, would have a credit of approximately 2-4 seconds long, with a much smaller font size of around 12 and the style being in normal and not bold. What I can conclude from the titles in title sequences is that you credit is dependant on you position or stature in the movie as the most important credits such as the director would have a big bold title but for people such as the costume designer who isn't as important wont be shown as long. Overall it's dependant on the role you had making the movie.
